Who I am
Perfect Pages ties together all those bits and pieces from previous careers and experiences.
After completing a Diploma of Professional Writing (Professional Editing & Proofreading) from the Australian College of Journalism in 2004, I set up Perfect Pages to help predominately writers in the small business arena. Before long, I received requests for editing technical documents, and for help in setting up report templates and style guides.
These experiences showed me gaps in business and technical writers' skills, so I set out to remedy that. Having obtained Cert IV in Assessment and Workplace Training, I began delivering workshops: business writing strategy; technical writing; training in the use of organisational style guide.
When in 2008, the newly formed Institute of Professional Editors (Australia) offered its first accreditation exam (testing against the Australian standard for editing practice), I decided that recognition of my skills was important to indicate my competence. That first exam produced about 120 Accredited Editors (including me), the number having increased to 330 following the fifth exam in 2014.
At the beginning of 2013, I became the Queensland delegate to IPEd's Accreditation Board, which manages their accreditation program.
Your service is always so appreciated Desolie - you take a jumble of words with a vague message and make it dance on the page!
